Getting on the subway and watching ladies wear leggings as pants everyday is painful. It’s not appropriate. I just want to say to these ladies in a polite but stern voice – ‘Please, please just wear pants.’
The following picture demonstrates what I am talking about. The leggings on the left is not okay. They are exposed and ladies your bum should never be exposed. The leggings on the right is appropriate. They are covered by a mini skirt or alternatively can be covered by a longer dress, shirt dress, cardigan..whatever. As long as the rear is yes, covered. 
Leggings on the left worn as pants is a 'no no'. Leggings on the left is worn appropriately as a legging accent.
And we’re back…exhale.

Here are some additional celebrity examples to chew on. These ladies match up a lil dressy with a casual legging leg nicely. Keep in mind leggings indeed can be worn to work, out and about, clubbing, dinner etc.. But again remember the age old rule – coverage is important. If you want to show off the assets invest in a good skinny jean. They are still current and hey will add a nice silhouette to your frame as oppose to the ‘freebie’ you will be offering to passer-by’s on the city streets.
