The music festival season’s kick-off event—a.k.a. Coachella—is just days away, and while we can’t wait to hear everything from cult favorites Florence + The Machine to rising star Gary Clarke Jr., we’re just as excited to debut our ‘fest-inspired outfits. Many years of experience have taught us that when it comes to music festival fashion, anything goes (as last year’s surplus of Native American headdresses and American flag prints indicated). But here at WWW, we like to stick to a wardrobe that is not only stylish and cool, but functional too. Naturally, DSquared’s S/S 12 collection—replete with denim cutoffs, fringed vests, and armfuls of bright wrist candy—served as the perfect runway reference, offering outfit inspiration galore. Keeping these festival-ready looks in mind, we curated a selection of fashion essentials that are sure to be a hit this summer! So whether you’re headed to Coachella, Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, or Lollapalooza-or just hitting up the after-parties- you’ll definitely want to snag a few items from today’s WWW Picks story!

1. ALDO Sindorf Straw Hat ($18) in Ice
While daytime concerts are always a blast, they do have a potential downside: pesky sunburns! If you plan on staying outside all day, a wide-brimmed hat is an absolute must. This straw style by Aldo does the trick, especially since the neutral hue will go with just about anything you pack for the weekend! Plus, the wallet-friendly price tag makes us all the more eager to snag one pronto.

2. Organic Peroxide Punk Friends Bracelets ($60 each)
We never shy away from colorful jewelry, so naturally we were excited to come across these bracelets by Organic Peroxide. The metal accents add a fresh twist to the classic friendship bracelet design, and we love that each piece is custom-made, so they really feel one-of-a-kind. All in all, we think these energetic bracelets are the perfect accessories to accompany your easy-breezy ensembles. Order your own today by emailing sales@organicperoxidenyc.com!

3. Gap Tie-dye Braided Crossbody Bag ($100)
When it comes to picking a handbag for your music festival of choice, a cross-body iteration is a no-brainer. Ideal for avid concertgoers darting from stage to stage, the convenient piece is the right size for stashing essentials and allows for hands-free dancing. This version by Gap is an especially outstanding option, as the tie-dye pattern gives it just a touch of hippie-chic, while the cobalt hue is in perfect keeping with this season’s bright color trend.

4. Spitfire Babet Sunglasses ($38) in Orange
A festival outfit simply would not be complete without a killer pair of shades. We think this orange version by Spitfire is a must this year, thanks to its on-point vivid hue. Allow these bright sunnies to stand out with a neutral look, or go all out and style them with an equally vibrant ensemble. Either way, we promise you’ll never want to take them off, even after the sun goes down!

5. TBA Debby Dress ($182) in Off-White
The scorching desert sun at Coachella calls for airy, fuss-free ensembles, which is why this crochet mini dress by TBA deserved a spot in our story. The short white frock is guaranteed to keep you cool and stylish despite the high temperatures, making it a real winner in our book.

6. Ksubi Alberceque Cutoff Shorts ($180)
A pair of denim cutoffs is a classic choice for any music festival, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t include a stellar option in today’s story. We think this iteration by Ksubi is a particularly great choice-distressed detailing definitely ups their cool factor! We have a feeling these short shorts will become a mainstay in your warm-weather wardrobe long after you head home!

7. D&G Billy Idol-Print Cotton-Jersey Tank ($155)
If your collection of tanks consists solely of solid colors, now’s the time to test out a bold graphic option! We think this Billy Idol-emblazoned tank by D&G just begs to make an appearance at a fashionable festival, and would look great paired with denim cutoffs and bright sandals.

8. Florence Broadhurst for Kate Spade New York Nail Polish Set ($28)
What’s the perfect finishing touch to your music festival attire? Brightly painted nails, of course! Featuring a quartet of striking shades, this Kate Spade New York polish set tops our list. Inspired by the late Florence Broadhurst-an Australian designer known for her lively wallpaper patterns—all four hues will complement any ensemble this season.

9. ace & jig Vermillion Boxy Baja ($228, 805.565.1253 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 805.565.1253 end_of_the_skype_highlighting)
While you might not need an outerwear option for the day, nighttime sets call for light layers to guard against chilly temps. But not just any old topper will do, which is why we wholeheartedly recommend packing this version by ace & jig! It’s a luxe interpretation of the classic Baja hoodie—perfect for embracing this season’s sporty look—plus, the eye-catching color guarantees you stand out from the crowd.

10. Cheap Monday Kloss Horse Short Boots ($130)
Flip-flops and sandals are always go-tos when it comes to festival fashion, but why not toughen up your look a bit and opt for these Cheap Monday leather boots instead? We love the unique cutout detailing and think they would look fantastic paired with anything from denim shorts to a flirtatious dress. We also appreciate how the thick heel ensures your shoes don’t sink into the grass, which, as any seasoned festivalgoer can tell you, is a major plus!—Erin Fitzpatrick

Cults & Beirut: The Bands I Missed On My Summer Vacation At Lollapalooza

Power is out in my building.  Boo.  So I’m sitting in the dark with my laptop in my lap and my ipod plugged in downloading new tunes as my tea gets cold.  I’m going through my Lollapalooza list with a flashlight and downloading bands I fell in love with.  The above is one of them.  So yummy.

Beirut.  Sigh.  I missed them too.  I was watching some nonsense band which will go unnamed at this point.  They were a headliner so I thought ‘Hey, that’s where I need to be’.  Mistake.  As you can see Beirut has an Arcade Fire feel to them a la tremendous gathering of musicians.  I’ll be honest, I fancy them more over AF.  There is something endearing about them.  Plus, the lead singer let’s face it is super dreamy and sings like Morrissey.

Happy Saturday night!

If I had a $1000 to buy a whole new outfit for Lollapalooza 2011 – I’d buy…

Alright, I’ve been looking at my wardrobe in preparation for Lollapalooza – ugh.  It’s okay.  It’s doable but man I wish I had a couple grand kicking around to buy some designer kicks to rock out in and to be seen in.  Here’s my dream list.

Bench Hat

Bench Hat

Well, I actually own this hat – which I happened to find at The Clothing Show in Toronto for ten dollars.  Its fun and looks super cool on.  It was normally priced at $40.

Winter Kate Thistle Tank in Silk Crepe with Lace Detail

I saw this lil number on the Asos website and thought it would be a great piece to be revelling in at Lolla.  Yes, I know its black and black will attract the hot Chicago summer sun but its light, looks cute and can be easily rolled up and chucked into a carry bag.  Priced at $230 USD.

Cynthia Rowley Charlotte Frame Shoulder Bag

Cynthia Rowley Charlotte Frame Shoulder Bag

As an ode to Cynthia Rowley (as she is from Chicago) I thought it would be fitting to add a purse from her latest collection to enhance my dream Lolla outfit.  It’s a poppy red bag with a $300 USD price tag.  I could also fit another pair of shoes, a make up bag and other festival essentials into her.  Its not too bulky but would suffice for a day on my shoulder in weight and size.

Tokidoki Cruiser Sunglasses

Tokidoki Cruiser Sunglasses

I’m usually a RayBan Wayfarer kinda girl but I thought I would change it up with some frames from Tokidoki.  These Cruiser Sunglasses are similar to that of a Wayfarer but have a more graduated tint to the lens and some neat graphics on the inside of the lens arms.  No price listed.

HIGHNESS Blue Jewel Embellished Cross Over Sandals from Top Shop
HIGHNESS Blue Jewel Embellished Cross Over Sandals from Top Shop

Well I am daydreaming after all, but these HIGHNESS Blue Jewel Embellished Cross Over Sandals from Top Shop are luxe.  Priced at around 40 Sterling Pounds on sale at Top Shop.  I’m sure they would flare up feet pain very quickly so they wouldn’t be the best shoes for an all day festival on grass – but they look sexy non?  I’m planning on bringing a pair of sneakers in my bag to change into.   At least for half the day these sandals would be supreme.
